Last night was one of those magical evenings here in NYC. Not only did I receive darshan for the second time from Amma, the Indian humanitarian & “hugging Saint,” here at the Manhattan Center, but I did so surrounded by love. It’s incredibly powerful to behold an entire auditorium seeking spiritual inspiration & connection with the Divine. While people in attendance come from all walks of life & personal practices, all agree Amma’s the real deal. You can feel it in the air. Speaking from her heart about compassion & oneness, Amma has dedicated her life to nourishing the world, spreading peace & healing all she can reach. So far she’s at 26 million & counting.
I arrived at the event at 5:30 p.m. & finally received my hug at 1:30 a.m. It’s an understatement to say it was worth the wait. Amma’s appeal is obvious: in her arms, there is complete, unconditional love. & you emerge from her embrace smelling (& feeling) like a sweet, reborn rose.
A few of my favorite Amma quotes are:
“True happiness is when the Love that is within us finds expression in external activities.”
“A truly spiritual person lives for the Truth and breathes for Love.”
“Through selfless service, we should be able to construct a bridge of love that will bring all of us together.”
Here’s a look at my program & Amma in all her incredible beauty.
If you ever have the chance to see Amma in person, take it. You might be a bit tired but you’ll never be sorry you did!
