He came to me again in a dream today, the man I loved as a boy in High School. I walked through his neighborhood earlier this afternoon with friends. Not really looking, I thought I saw him only once. But then, there they both were – he and his wife – in my dream. Again.
This time I called to thank him for a fun weekend as “just friends” but she answered. I made a point of being excited to have gotten her instead. We really had had fun and nothing at all had happened. But she sounded tense and I said too much to reassure her.
Waking up hot and sticky, I whispered aloud, “Come back to me.” I watched Atonement last night and carried it with me it seems. I can build boundaries and live life awake with my integrity intact; asleep, the heart has its own truth to tell. I shouldn’t be so surprised, then, that he keeps showing up. He’s anything but uninvited.
